Dosage/Direction for Use
If taking Ferrum Hausmann is forgotten, just take the next dose at the usual time. Do not take a double dose to compensate for a forgotten dose.
Keep to the dosage stated or as prescribed by the doctor. If thinking that the effect of this medicine is too strong or too weak, talk to the doctor or pharmacist.
Chewable tablet: Ferrum Hausmann chewable tablets can be chewed or swallowed whole and should be taken during or directly after meals.
Ferrum Hausmann chewable tablets are not suitable for children under the age of 12.
Adolescents (over 12 years), adults: Iron deficiency with anaemia: 1 chewable tablet 1-3 times daily for 3-5 months until blood test values have returned to normal. The daily dosage can also be taken in one dose. Subsequently, treatment is continued with one chewable tablet for several weeks in order to replenish the iron stores.
Iron deficiency without anaemia: 1 chewable tablet daily for 1-2 months.
The dose and duration of treatment depend on the extent of the iron deficiency. The exact duration of treatment is determined by the doctor in each case.
Drops/Syrup: Ferrum Hausmann drops/syrup should be taken during or directly after meals. They can be mixed with fruit or vegetable juice or with bottle food. The slight discolouration does not impair the effect or the taste. The daily dose can be taken all at once or divided into multiple individual doses.
The dose and duration of treatment depend on the extent/severity of the iron deficiency. In the case of iron deficiency anaemia, treatment lasts an average of 3-5 months until blood test values have returned to normal again. Treatment is then continued at the dose indicated for iron deficiency without anaemia for several weeks to replenish the iron stores. For iron deficiency without anaemia, treatment lasts about 1-2 months. The exact duration of treatment is determined by the doctor in each case.
Drops: 1 drop corresponds to 0.050 mL, or 2.5 mg iron. 1 mL corresponds to 20 drops, or 50 mg iron.
Hold the bottle upside down and vertical. A drop will form immediately at the end of the dropper bottle. If this is not the case, tap the bottle gently until a drop forms. Do not shake the bottle.
Iron deficiency anaemia: Premature babies: 1-2 drops/kg of body weight daily for 3-5 months.
Infants aged up to 1 year: 10-20 drops daily.
Children (aged 1-12 years): 20-40 drops daily.
Adolescents over 12 years and adults: 40-120 drops daily.

Children (aged 1-12 years): 5-10 mL daily.
Adolescents over 12 years and adults: 10-30 mL daily.
